Remarks
Protologue: Allied apparently to P. paniculata of Cavanilles. Although Gray (Syn. Fl. 1(1.2): 332. 10 Jun 1897) treated P. drummondii and Malvaviscus drummondii Torr. & A. Gray (1838) as conspecific, the former has not been presumed as a new combination based on the latter (cf. Vienna Code Art. 33.3).
