Nomenclatural Notes
Status: orth. var. of Anil Mill. 1754 ['Anil was a generic name widely used (for Indigofera) in pre-Linnean times. The name was validated by Miller in 1754. Otto Kuntze took up the name again in preference to Indigofera. As he wrote (translated from German): I took the liberty of Latinising the name in the usual way, by adding an a'; vide Werner Greuter; pers. comm.]
