Remarks
Rothrock used Hymenopappus canescens, var. flavescens, Gray (Pl. Wright. 2, p. 94 ...), a sphalm. H. canescens does not exist, and A. Gray (l.c.) used Hymenopappus flavescens var. Therefore, H. flavescens var. canotomentosus was inadvertently published as a var. nov. (see B. L. Turner l.c.).
