Remarks

doi:10.3897/phytokeys.63.7743 the species epithet was chosen based on suggestions from middle school students in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, USA: numerous students suggested names based on the characteristics of the fruits, which stain blood red when cut open before maturity and then mature to a dry, bony condition, thus ossi- is used for bone and -cruentum for bloody.
