'Solanum peikuoense S.S.Ying, Quart. J. Exp. Forest. 11(1): 14 (1997)' was published with a Latin description, but without a holotype citation; hence, the species name was not validly published (see Shenzhen Code Art. 40.6). Aubriot and S. Knapp (l.c.) provided the holotype citation and validated the name as 'Solanum peikuoense S.S.Ying in X.Aubriot & S.Knapp, sp. nov.'.
