Remarks
Although published as a comb. nov. (Machaeranthera humilis (A. Gray)), M. humilis was inadvertently published as a sp. nov. The cited basionym M. tanacetifolia var. humilis A.Gray, Pl. Wright. 74. 1853. is a sphalm. A. Gray did not publish the varietal name.
