Berger (p. 337, index) mentioned that the new names were assigned * signs; on 345, he listed Pyrrhocactus with an * sign and referred to p. 215 on which he treated Echinocactus subgen. Pyrrhocactus A. Berger. It is construed here that Berger published E. subgen. Pyrrhocactus and Pyrrhocactus as alternative names.
