Remarks
In Swartz’s Prodromus, the numbers between the specific name and the diagnosis refer to related species in Murray (Syst. veg. ed. 14. 1784) and indicate that Swartz’s species were to be inserted between the species numbered in Murray’s work. Swartz numbered S. torvum as 26-27 and cited S. indicum L. (1753) as a synonym; the preceding species was numbered 32 in Murray’s work. The status of S. torvum, whether legitimate or illegitimate, is under discussion (see Taxon 65: 878-879. 2016)
