DC. recognized (p. 58) Ludwigia Roxb., Fl. Ind. 1: 440 (1820) and cited (p. 60) Ludwigia Linn. as a synonym of Isnardia sect. Ludwigiaria DC. Roxburgh (1820) used Ludwigia and referred to Schreb. (an indirect reference to Linnaeus). Since Roxburgh used the Linnaean Ludwigia, DC. alone is construed as the author for his usage of Ludwigia (non L., 1753).
