Remarks

The genus name Muralta Adans. (1763) is typified with Clematis cirrhosa L.; the infrageneric names Atragene subgen. Viorna Pers. (1806) and Clematis sect. Cheiropsis DC. (1817) are homotypic names; consequently, the generic names Cheiropsis (DC.) Bercht. & J.Presl (1823) and Viorna (Pers.) Rchb. (1837) were superfluous when published.  Spach (l.c.) used 'Viorna Reichenb.' as an accepted genus name but excluded its type Clematis cirrhosa and thus created a later homonym
