Remarks
Hitchc. & Chase used Panicum agrostoides Spreng., but excluded the illegitimacy causing P. agrostidiforme Lam. from its synonymy and thus inadvertently published P. agrostoides Hitchc. & Chase as a new species (non P. agrostoides Spreng. 1800); their inclusion of P. rigidulum Bosc ex Nees (1829) as a synonym caused superfluity and illegitimacy. Thus, to P. agrostoides Hitchc. & Chase doubly illegitimate.
