Remarks
Eponymy: 'In 1892 an extensive collection, mostly of grasses, was made by Professor B. C. Buffum for this University. Mrs. Buffum who accompanied the expedition collected most assiduously in other groups. Among the good things she secured was an abundant supply of this fine species from some locality in the Big Horn Mountains, the exact place not now known. It is with pleasure that I dedicate this species to its discoverer.'
