Remarks
Published as a new combination based on Echinocereus viridiflorus var. canus A.M.Powell & Weedin but the basionym was not validly published in the cited reference. The name is validly published by reference to a validating description and indication of the holotype. Art. 36.2 (Melbourne Code) does not apply because, although E. canus and E. viridiflorus var. canus were published simultaneously, they were proposed by different authors.
